[CNMO Technology News]Passionategeekz learned from foreign media that Apple is accelerating the layout of smart home products. The file “apple-logo-1088@2x~home.png” appears in the latest leaked iOS 18.6 developer preview code, implying that it may launch a smart home hub device equipped with HomeOS system. Although it was previously expected to be released later in 2025, the latest developments in June show that the hardware may be postponed to early 2026.
Foreign media said that the file embedded in the iOS 18.6 developer preview version shows that the screen size of its smart home device may reach 2176 pixels wide (based on 1088 pixels and @2x scaling ratio), which is similar to the iPad mini. This folder contains multiple Apple logos that are suitable for different screen sizes, implying that the device will support multiple display forms.
Although the file does not directly associate specific hardware parameters, the leaked information indicates that Apple is actively testing smart home hardware. The device may be equipped with an A18 chip and equipped with 8GB of memory, a built-in camera and microphone, and supports Thread and Matter protocols for interconnection with smart home devices.
Regarding product positioning, Apple previously planned to display the HomeOS platform (home operating system) at WWDC in 2025 may be delayed until 2026. If the Home Hub device is released simultaneously, its functions will be similar to the physical version of the iOS Home app, and it will manage lighting, temperature control and other home devices through a centralized interface.
