Samsung has finally unveiled its long-rumored tri-fold flagship smartphone at the APEC CEO Summit in South Korea, marking a major milestone in foldable innovation. This comes shortly after Huawei introduced the Mate XTs, the world’s first consumer tri-fold device, signaling that the next chapter in smartphone evolution has officially begun.
The upcoming Samsung tri-fold, expected to be named Galaxy Z Trifold, was displayed at a side event held at the Gyeongju Expo Park Air Dome. The prototype remained inside a glass enclosure, giving attendees a first look at Samsung’s approach to multi-fold design. Unlike conventional foldables, the device uses two inward-folding hinges that allow it to expand from a standard smartphone into a large tablet-sized display.
According to early information, the Galaxy Z Trifold will feature a 6.5-inch primary screen that unfolds into a 10-inch display (approximately 9.96 inches). This makes it ideal for multitasking, media viewing, and productivity. The device reportedly weighs around 298 grams and supports 25W fast charging as per its 3C certification. It will also include NFC connectivity and could utilize Samsung’s latest Flex Display technology for added durability and smoother folding transitions.
Popular tipster @UniverseIce shared new renders of the device, revealing its sleek and premium finish. The images highlight a punch-hole selfie camera, thin symmetrical bezels, and an elegant Black color tone. The volume rockers and power button are positioned within the inner folding section, reflecting Samsung’s refined design language. While most leaks identify it as the “Galaxy Z Trifold,” earlier firmware references pointed to a codename “Multifold 7.”
As for availability, the Galaxy Z Trifold is tipped to debut later in 2025, launching first in regions like South Korea and China where foldables are gaining traction. Production is reportedly limited to between 50,000 and 100,000 units in the initial batch, with pricing expected around 3 million won (roughly USD 2,200). This positions the device in the ultra-premium segment, targeting tech enthusiasts and professionals seeking both portability and performance.
