Motorola is preparing to introduce its thinnest smartphone yet, the Motorola Edge 70, on November 5. Initially teased in China as the X70 Air, the device is now confirmed to make its way into global markets with a slim profile of under 6mm, putting it in direct competition with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, iPhone Air, Tecno Spark Slim, and Tecno Pova Slim.
This marks a new chapter for Motorola, which until now had not ventured into the sub-7mm category with its non-foldable smartphones. The company’s previous release, the Edge 60, measured around 7.9mm, meaning the Edge 70 represents a dramatic design leap. Motorola is branding it with the tagline “Impossibly thin and incredibly tough”, highlighting both its sleekness and durability.
Leaked details suggest the smartphone will be equipped with a 50MP primary camera featuring Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) alongside an ultrawide sensor with a 120-degree field of view. For audio, Motorola is enhancing the experience with stereo speakers supported by Dolby Atmos technology, making it a strong contender in the premium slim category.
On the hardware side, the Motorola Edge 70 is expected to launch in multiple Pantone-certified color options including Lily Pad, Bronze Green, and Gadget Gray. It will come with 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage, priced at approximately €690 in European markets. Connectivity options will include full 5G support, positioning it as a flagship-level device.
The launch on November 5 signals Motorola’s entry into the ongoing “slimness war” in the smartphone industry, a trend led by Apple and Samsung and now joined by other brands. With its razor-thin profile and promising hardware, the Edge 70 could carve out a niche for users who value both aesthetics and performance.
