According to Passionategeekz, the patent has been published on the website of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) with publication number WO 2025/127701, and contains sketches that reveal a new wearable experience: interaction is no longer limited to a circular display, but extends to the strap area.

According to the patent drawings, Samsung appears to be exploring a design where parts of the smartwatch strap have a display or touch-sensitive function. The sketch shows that graphical user interface (GUI) elements appear not only on the dial, but also extend to adjacent strap sections. These features may be used to extend user interface elements, provide additional controls, or implement multi-touch gestures across dials and straps.

Another interesting detail in the drawing is that the watch interface can be automatically adjusted according to the direction of the wrist. In some pictures, the display element will rotate or move according to the user’s wrist position, which may mean that the interface will automatically adapt to the user’s wrist posture, making it easier to read or interact with content in different locations.

In addition, these patented charts also suggest the existence of gesture recognition function. Arrows and notes indicate hand, wrist movements, and finger gestures, indicating that the device may support control through movement or touch gestures. A flowchart in the patent mentions that the system identifies the direction and distance of the multi-touch input to trigger the secondary graphical user interface.

It is worth noting that this is just a patent application and Samsung has not officially confirmed its plans to bring this concept to market. However, this concept suggests that Samsung is exploring new ways to make smartwatches more interactive and more sensitive to user movements.
