Passionategeekz On June 23, OpenAI released a promotional video showing the friendship between its CEO Sam Altman and former Apple chief design officer Jony Ive, and OpenAI’s acquisition of Ive, a device startup co-founded by Yves and Altman for $6.5 billion (Passionategeekz Note: the current exchange rate is approximately RMB 46.688 billion). However, this video has been removed from OpenAI’s official website and YouTube page.

Does this move mean there is something wrong with the acquisition plan, or has Yves’s design work plan changed at OpenAI? According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, the acquisition plan is still advancing normally, and the acquisition case has not been terminated or similar problems have occurred. Gulman pointed out that the real reason for the video was removed was the court’s injunction.OpenAI is asked to withdraw all promotional materials involving the name “io”.

OpenAI then confirmed this statement and updated the statement on its old announcement page: “The court issued an injunction due to iyO’s trademark complaint regarding our use of the ‘io’ name, which led to the temporary removal of the page. We do not agree to the complaint and are evaluating our response.” The company also emphasized that this incident did not affect the acquisition transaction with io.

According to Passionategeekz, iyO, the other party in the trademark dispute, is a company incubated from Google’s parent company Alphabet X’s “lunar landing factory”. iyO’s first product is a set of headphones based on generative artificial intelligence technology. According to an earlier report by Bloomberg Law Channel, iyO has filed a trademark lawsuit against OpenAI, and the judge seems to agree with iyO’s view, believing that OpenAI’s promotional video may have caused confusion among consumers.

Currently, although the video is no longer visible on the official OpenAI channel, it is still available for viewing at least on the X social platform.
