Apple has introduced HomeView, a new smart display designed to bring entertainment, communication, and home control into one device. The launch marks an important step in Apple’s plan to make its AI assistant more useful outside the iPhone.
HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display, a speaker base, and a design that can sit on a table or be mounted on a wall. It can play music, make FaceTime calls, show personal information, and control supported smart-home accessories.

A personal screen for the whole family
One of HomeView’s main features is facial recognition. The device can recognise different household members and adjust the information shown on the screen. For example, one person can check their reminders while another can view their calendar or find a contact.
Apple says HomeView can recognise up to six users. Its personal features work with supported Apple devices and services, allowing it to use information such as messages, reminders, and calendar events when the required settings and permissions are enabled.
The screen is also designed for everyday activities. Users can check compatible security cameras, manage lights, control supported thermostats, and run home automations. The idea is to make common tasks easier without requiring everyone to pick up a phone.
Siri AI takes a bigger role
HomeView includes a new version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence. Apple says the assistant is designed to understand personal context, answer a wider range of questions, and support more natural conversations.
For example, users may be able to ask Siri to find information connected to a message, set a reminder based on a calendar event, or locate a recipe shared by a friend. These features depend on supported software, languages, devices, and permissions.
Privacy is another important part of the design. Apple says requests can be processed on the device or through Private Cloud Compute. The company states that data processed through its private cloud system is not stored or made accessible to Apple.
HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K join the lineup
Apple has also introduced HomePod mini 2 with the S10 chip, updated audio processing, and five colour options. Its new Sound Glow feature makes the top of the speaker light up in time with music.
The new Apple TV 4K uses the A19 chip and adds built-in microphones for hands-free Siri access. Apple says its CPU performance can be up to 50% faster and its GPU performance up to twice as fast as the previous model. The new Siri Remote also supports Find My features to help users locate it.
HomeView is priced at ₹39,900 in India, while HomePod mini 2 starts at ₹18,900 and Apple TV 4K starts at ₹39,900. HomePod mini 2 deliveries are scheduled to begin on October 30, while HomeView and the new Apple TV 4K are scheduled for November 13.

Passionategeekz Take
HomeView gives Apple a stronger presence in the smart-home market, where Amazon and Google already have established products. The hardware looks promising, but the biggest test will be whether Siri can complete everyday tasks reliably. A smart display is useful only when it makes home life simpler, not when it adds another screen to manage.
