OnePlus is putting gaming at the centre of its next flagship. Ahead of the OnePlus 16 launch in China on October 12, the company has revealed new gaming features, including an 800Hz gyroscope, dedicated gaming tools and a display designed for high-refresh-rate gameplay.
The company says the new gyroscope can help players make faster and more precise movements in supported games. This could be useful in shooting games, where aiming speed and control can make a real difference.
OnePlus 16 Focuses on Gaming Control
The OnePlus 16 is expected to include a gaming assistant with shooting display enhancements, voice noise reduction, new gaming lighting effects and a dedicated gaming camera feature.
OnePlus has also highlighted a dedicated gaming network chip and an antenna design intended to improve connection stability in crowded places. These features aim to reduce interruptions during online matches, although real-world testing will show how much they help.
185Hz Is Not Available Everywhere
The phone’s display supports up to 165Hz for regular system use, with refresh rates reaching 185Hz in supported gaming scenarios. OnePlus China president Li Jie has explained that the company is prioritising a balanced experience instead of forcing 185Hz across every app.
This matters because higher refresh rates can increase power use and heat. A fast screen is useful, but stable performance and good battery life are just as important during long gaming sessions.
What Else Is Expected?
Reported specifications include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, a 9,000mAh battery, 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The camera setup is expected to include a 200MP main camera and two 50MP rear cameras. Final specifications and pricing should be checked against the official launch announcement.
