Good news for HMD fans! A new leak suggests that the HMD Skyline 2 has not been cancelled. Earlier reports claimed the phone had been scrapped, but reliable tipster smashx_60 has now clarified that only the Skyline GT model was cancelled. The standard HMD Skyline 2 is still expected to launch.

The latest engineering prototype also reveals updated hardware, including Qualcomm’s newer Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, while most of the previously leaked specifications remain unchanged.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Replaces Earlier Chipset
The biggest upgrade is the processor. Earlier leaks pointed to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, but the latest prototype now features the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, which should offer better performance and improved power efficiency.
The phone is expected to be available in Blue, Yellow, and Black colour options.
Display and Design
According to the leak, the HMD Skyline 2 will feature a 6.55-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate and up to 1,200 nits peak brightness. The display is also expected to include a 50MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
The device keeps the same overall design language as the original Skyline. Instead of the earlier rumoured Lumia 1020-inspired circular camera module, the phone will reportedly retain the rectangular camera island positioned in the upper-left corner.
Other design highlights include a dedicated camera button and a USB Type-C 3.2 port.
108MP Triple Rear Cameras
Photography remains one of the key highlights of the Skyline 2. The leaked camera setup includes:
- 108MP primary camera
- 50MP telephoto camera
- 50MP ultra-wide camera
- 50MP selfie camera
This combination could make the Skyline 2 one of HMD’s strongest camera-focused smartphones.
Battery, Charging and Other Features
The smartphone is expected to pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for:
- 40W wired fast charging
- 15W Qi2 wireless charging
- IP54 dust and splash resistance
- Stereo speakers
- Second-generation repair-friendly quick-release back panel
Like its predecessor, the Skyline 2 will continue HMD’s focus on easy repairs, allowing users to replace components such as the battery or display without complicated tools.

How It Compares to the Original Skyline
The first HMD Skyline launched in July 2024 with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset and gained attention for its repair-friendly design inspired by classic Nokia smartphones. The Skyline 2 appears to build on that formula by offering a newer processor while keeping the same user-repairable philosophy and premium display.
Pricing and Availability
HMD has not officially announced the Skyline 2 yet, so pricing and launch details remain unknown. However, with engineering samples already appearing, an official announcement may not be far away.
Final Thoughts
The HMD Skyline 2 looks like a meaningful upgrade over its predecessor. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset, 144Hz OLED display, powerful triple-camera system, Qi2 wireless charging, and repair-friendly design could make it an attractive option for users looking for something different from mainstream Android smartphones.
