Passionategeekz June 21 news, technology media Space released a blog post today (June 21), reporting that NASA’s lunar survey orbiter (LRO) was the latest back-up image to film Japanese private aerospace companies The crash site of the Resilience lunar lander under ispace.

Passionategeekz previously reported that Resilience, the second lunar lander of the space, attempted to land on the Mare Frigoris (“Cold Sea”) plain in the northern hemisphere of the moon at 3:24 am on June 6.

During the landing of the Resilience, the space mission control center failed to establish communication with the spacecraft. Hours later, the team confirmed that Resilience had crashed. Also missing is the Tenacious Mini Rover, a small wheeled vehicle developed by the European subsidiary of Ispace, with a replica of the “Moon House” artwork by Swedish artist Mikael Genberg on its front bumper.

NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) captured the crash site, showing a black stain and a faint halo. Robinson explains that the black stain is the result of excavation and redistribution of shallow lunar soil when the lander hits the moon’s surface, while the faint halo is formed by low-angle lunar soil particles washing the moon’s surface. The crash site is about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) from the planned landing site of the ispace.
