Passionategeekz June 16th news Meta has hinted over the years that it will introduce ads for WhatsApp, and now it has finally been implemented.

In an update on Monday, Meta announced it will show ads from businesses in WhatsApp through its Stories-like status feature.

This feature is located in WhatsApp’s “UpdatesIn the ” tab, users are allowed to share text, photos, voice notes or video messages. But now, users may see sponsored content in addition to updates shared by friends or family members.

Meta has been considering introducing ads to WhatsApp for years,This idea completely goes against the will of its founder. Although Meta canceled plans to launch in-app advertising in 2020, WhatsApp chief Will Cathcart confirmed in 2023 that the company is still in progress. The official press release stated that through advertising in the news, users can find new merchants, initiate conversations with the other party, and directly ask about the products or services they promote in the news.

When browsing the directory, WhatsApp official also helps users discover new channels that may be of interest, and this is the first time an administrator can increase their channel exposure.

Meta officially promises that these new features will only appear in the “Update” tab.Separate personal conversations with users. That is, if the user just uses WhatsApp to talk to relatives and friends, the experience will not change at all.

We will never sell or share your phone number to advertisers. We do not decide what ads you may see based on your personal messages, calls, and groups you belong to.
