Maomao meets Shisui again, which reveals her traumatic past. Shisui describes her mother Shenmei as a cruel and corrupt woman, whose shadow she tries to escape desperately – even at the price of never getting her own children. Shisui admits that her sister Suirei, who carries imperial blood, is misused by her father Shishou as a political tool. Although Shisui claims that Suirei is not related to the Shi clan, Maomao looks through this attempt to protect her sister, and recognizes Shisui’s deep affection.

Shisui sees itself as an insect that does not survive winter and accepts her own death to protect Suirei. She rejects Maomao’s advice on flight and instead insists on pride and a sense of duty. When farewell, Maomao gives her a hairpin and asks for happiness. Shisui says goodbye with the words that Maomao should take care of the rest.

In the meantime, Jinshi, Lakan and Lahan plan the siege of the SHI fortress. Since the shooting powder is produced inside, they develop a risky plan to destroy the supplies and trigger an avalanche as a distraction in order to avoid a bloody attack.

Shisui acts as a Loulan within the fortress. It breaks the gunpowder bearing and triggers the avalanche that spills the arsenal. In the final meeting with Shenmei, Shisui reveals her years of abuse. After all, Shishou recognizes the cruelty of his wife and his own inactivity. On Loulan’s demand to take responsibility, he supports the avalanche campaign.

The imperial guard uses the resulting chaos for a successful attack. Jinshi insists on sparing unarmed opponents. After the battle, Jinshi saves Maomao and reveals his true identity as an imperial prince. Maomao finds poisoned children in the fortress who are secretly buried on Lihakus Initiative. He then brings Maomoo to safety.

In the end, Maomao decides to fulfill Shisui’s last wish: “I will do what shisui has entrusted to me.” The episode concludes with the Shi clan with reference to the upcoming billing.
