[CNMO Technology News]On June 16, according to the latest research by TrendForce, despite the pressure on the global economic environment, the OLED display panel market still showed strong growth trend. After a 132% year-on-year increase in shipments in 2024, this growth trend will continue in 2025, with shipments expected to be increased from 2.8 million to 3.4 million, with an annual growth rate significantly increasing from 40% to 69%.

TrendForce pointed out that the counter-trend growth of OLED display panels is mainly due to two core driving forces. First of all, e-sports players’ acceptance of OLED displays has significantly improved. Its high contrast and low latency characteristics perfectly meet the needs of e-sports, and promotes leading brands such as Asus and MSI to accelerate the layout of OLED product lines. For example, at the COMPUTEX exhibition in May 2025, ASUS and MSI both launched e-sports displays equipped with 27-inch 500Hz QDOLED panels, further stimulating market demand. Data shows that Asus’ demand for OLED display panels is expected to exceed 500,000 pieces in 2025. It also promotes QDOLED and WOLED technologies, becoming a key factor in LeGD’s adjustment of its shipment strategy.

Secondly, the shift in the strategic focus of Korean panel manufacturers has also injected momentum into the market. Samsung Display (SDC) has focused its resources on the display field due to the slowdown in the growth of OLED TV panels, and plans to maintain the high productivity and profitability of the A5 production line by expanding shipments. LGD has changed its previous conservative strategy and raised its OLED display panel shipment target in 2025 from 700,000 to 800,000, and may further upgrade to 1 million. Behind this adjustment, there is the boost of the surge in customer demand, and it is also due to the boost of China’s old-for-new policy to e-sports domestic demand, which has prompted local second-tier brands to accelerate the layout of OLED product lines.

From the supply side, SDC and LGD still dominate the OLED display panel market. SDC continues to consolidate its high-end market position by leveraging its technical advantages and capacity allocation; LGD actively responds to customer needs by adjusting its shipment strategy, especially in the WOLED panel field, forming in-depth cooperation with brands such as Asus.

TrendForce Consulting believes that the OLED display panel market is limited in the short term due to tariff policies, and its growth momentum mainly comes from technological iteration and consumption upgrades. With the expansion of the scale of the e-sports industry and the expansion of product lines of brand manufacturers, OLED displays are expected to continue to penetrate the high-end market and become a new growth pole in the panel industry.
