Apple’s iPhone roadmap continues to evolve, and recent insights from well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggest that 2026 could bring one of the most significant shifts yet. According to Kuo, Apple plans to release an iPhone 19 Slim model featuring a larger screen than previous versions, alongside the second generation of its foldable iPhone.

This dual launch would break with Apple’s traditional release format, which has remained largely unchanged since 2019: unveiling both standard and Pro iPhone models each September. However, early signs indicate that Apple is preparing for a split launch schedule in 2026, with the ultra-thin and foldable devices positioned as a new tier within its product family.

Before that, Apple is expected to debut what may be called the iPhone 17 Air or iPhone 17 Slim in 2025, setting the stage for the iPhone 19 Slim to take the concept further the following year. The 2025 lineup is still anticipated to follow the usual September release pattern, but 2026 appears to mark a strategic pivot.

These developments hint at Apple’s growing ambition to diversify its smartphone portfolio. With the foldable segment maturing and ultra-slim designs becoming more viable, Apple seems ready to explore form factors beyond the traditional slab, likely targeting both premium and innovation-driven consumers.

While Apple has yet to confirm any of these reports, Kuo’s track record lends weight to the predictions. If accurate, the iPhone 19 Slim and second-generation foldable could redefine Apple’s high-end smartphone offerings—and shift the expectations of what a flagship iPhone can be.
