Forget 4G and 5G, people still run 2G internet in this country; Government asks screenshots of content

New Delhi. It has been five years since 5G launched in India and the world and now 6G is being prepared. In this rapidly changing technical world, there is also a country where people are still stranded in the 2G/3G era. Here common citizens do not have access to global internet and they are completely dependent on the government’s controlled intranet. Those who have internet facilities have to send a screenshot to the officers every hour to confirm that no government can share anti -propaganda. We are talking about North Korea. In the year 2023, WIRED published a report in which details of the country’s strict internet rules were given, which shows how hard the information is under control and the means of external communication are almost equal.

Only government officials have access to the Global Web, while the general public has to use an intranet named ‘Quangmayong’. This service is also kept under strict supervision of the state.

Internet ban

The government keeps a close watch on what citizens are searching and sharing on the Internet. Access to smartphone is limited and those who have smartphones remain under constant surveillance. Most people in North Korea still use basic 2G feature phones. Even smartphone users have to submit screenshots of their activities to the government. Apart from this, officials also monitor the fashion and lifestyle of the citizens.

Access to the global internet is given only to a few selected people and that too with strict government censorship. The general public does not get any chance to reach foreign media and even listening to foreign radio broadcasting is lawful. Concerns have also been raised about North Korea’s cyber security and hacking activities.
