Vivo has officially revealed the arrival of its next-generation S-series smartphone lineup for the Chinese market, confirming that it will skip the S40 branding and move directly to the Vivo S50 series. This is not surprising, as the number 4 is traditionally considered inauspicious in China. The company has already published a microsite on Vivo China Mall, confirming a December launch window for the new lineup. While the exact date remains unannounced, early teasers indicate that the brand is preparing for a significant upgrade over the previous S30 generation.

Although Vivo has not yet confirmed the exact variants included in the series, industry expectations suggest the lineup could feature the Vivo S50 and Vivo S50 Pro Mini. This mirrors the launch pattern of the previous S30 series, where Vivo introduced both the standard S30 and the S30 Pro Mini. The microsite itself keeps the details minimal, but reliable sources have begun sharing early insights.

A few days ago, tipster DCS posted key information on Weibo, indicating that the Vivo S50 series may debut with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset — a next-generation SoC that Qualcomm has not yet officially introduced. This suggests Vivo may be among the first to adopt the new platform, particularly for the Pro model. DCS also mentioned that the device could feature a Sony IMX882 primary camera sensor, offering improved imaging compared to its predecessor. Another reported feature is a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint 2.0 sensor, providing faster and more accurate biometric authentication.

Further adding to the confirmations, Vivo’s Product Manager Han Boxiao also took to Weibo, revealing that the S50 series will come equipped with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, enabling peak data speeds of up to 9600 Mbps. He also echoed the tipster’s claim about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC powering at least one variant in the lineup, likely the S50 Pro Mini. Whether the vanilla S50 will share the same chipset or adopt a different configuration remains unconfirmed.

In addition to these hardware leaks, a new Vivo device recently appeared on the 3C certification platform featuring 90W fast charging support. This model is widely believed to be part of the S50 family, reinforcing the expectation of a performance-driven mid-premium smartphone range.

With December approaching, Vivo is expected to release more detailed teasers in the coming days. Readers can stay updated with more smartphone leaks, comparisons and upcoming launch reports by exploring related content on passionategeekz.com.
