X has announced one of the biggest engineering milestones in the company’s history. Nikita Bier, Head of Product at X, revealed that the entire Android application has been rebuilt from scratch, marking a major upgrade aimed at improving performance and speeding up future development.

According to Bier, the rebuilt Android app is now faster, smoother, and more reliable than before. More importantly, the new foundation will allow X engineers to introduce new features much faster, making it easier to roll out updates without the limitations of the previous codebase.

This change is expected to significantly improve the overall experience for Android users, especially as X continues expanding its platform with new tools and creator-focused features.

New Features Coming Soon

With the rebuilt Android app now complete, X is shifting its focus toward launching several highly anticipated features. Nikita Bier confirmed that the team is currently working on:

  • React with Video
  • Built-in Video Editor
  • Improved Spaces experience
  • Cashtags support
  • Custom Timelines
  • Additional new features already rolling out

These additions are expected to enhance content creation, user engagement, and customization across the platform.

Android Users to Get Features First

One of the biggest announcements is that Android users may now receive many new features before iOS users. Bier stated that going forward, many upcoming features will launch on Android first, highlighting the company’s renewed focus on its Android ecosystem after completing the extensive rebuild.

This marks a notable shift for X, as Android users have often received new features later than iPhone users in the past. The rebuilt application could help close that gap while delivering a more stable and responsive experience.

Final Thoughts

Rebuilding an app from scratch is a massive engineering effort, and X believes the investment will pay off through faster updates, improved stability, and quicker feature development. With video tools, enhanced Spaces, Custom Timelines, and other new capabilities on the roadmap, Android users could soon become the first to experience many of X’s latest innovations.
